Description

Wheelgrip V1 is a modular camera handle system designed to adapt across a wide range of camera setups. The Axis, Bolt Base, and Locking Bolt form the structural core of the Wheelgrip system— a modular interface designed around the 15 mm standard and reliable locking through both hand and tool operation.

15MM AXIS

The Axis is the structural core of Wheelgrip V1.
Machined from Aluminum 6061 and finished with hard-coated black anodizing,
it is designed to deliver rigidity, precision, and long-term durability.

The internal bore is sized for a 15 mm system,
secured with an M4 hand-operated clamping lever for fast and reliable locking.

With an outer diameter of 22 mm,
the Axis is built to accept standard skateboard wheels,
forming the foundation of the Wheelgrip modular system.

3/8 BOLT BASE

The Bolt Base is the mounting interface of the Wheelgrip system.
Machined from Aluminum 6061 and finished with hard-coated black anodizing,
it is designed to provide a stable connection between the rig and the Axis.

The base features four M3 holes for ARRI anti-twist compatibility
and a center 3/8-16 mount, ensuring secure and standardized mounting across camera rigs. With an assembled outer diameter of 15 mm,
the Bolt Base is designed to integrate directly into the Axis system.

3/8 LOCKING BOLT

The Locking Bolt secures the Bolt Base firmly in place.

Made from stainless steel with a 3/8-16 thread,
it is designed for both quick setup and secure locking.

The bottom features a flat-head screwdriver slot for strong tightening,
while still allowing hand-tightening when tools are not used.

This dual approach provides flexibility between speed and stability on set.

WHEEL - Your choice, Your grip!

On Deadround Wheel Grip, the wheel is not for rolling on the ground.

It functions as a hand-operated grip interface - something you hold, brace, and micro-adjust while shooting.

Because wheels come in many brands, durometers (hardness), and sizes, you can swap them to tune the feel of your grip—cushion, friction, and tactile feedback.

Common wheel brand examples

Spitfire Wheels, Bones Wheels, OJ Wheels, Ricta Wheels, Powell Peralta

Durometer (Hardness) Guide — changes the “hand feel”

Most wheels use the A scale (e.g., 78A / 92A / 99A).

Lower = softer, higher = harder and more direct.

  • 78A–87A (Soft): more cushion, smoother feel, absorbs vibration
  • 88A–95A (Medium): balanced feel—comfort + feedback
  • 96A–101A (Hard): crisp, direct feedback; texture and resistance feel more pronounced
  • 102A+ (Extra Hard): very firm feel; maximum response, but can transmit more vibration
Size (Diameter) Guide — changes presence & stability

Wheel size is typically listed by diameter (mm). Larger wheels generally feel more substantial in hand.

  • 50–53mm (Small): compact, quick/precise feel
  • 54–56mm (Standard): balanced, all-around sweet spot
  • 57–60mm (Large): more presence and steadiness; a heavier, smoother feel (varies by formula)

Even at the same diameter, width / contact patch also affects feel: wider tends to feel steadier; narrower feels nimbler.

Wheel Swap (User-Replaceable)
  1. Loosen the 5/16-24 nut and remove the wheel.
  2. Fit a bearing on one side only of your preferred wheel.
  3. Reinstall the wheel and secure it again with the 5/16-24 nut.
